COVID-19 Prevention Plan + Guidelines

We’re changing the way people view intentional self-care, by encouraging people to be proactive when it comes to their own health and feeling guilt-free about investing in themselves. Sloco is part of the movement of disrupting our industry as we know it by building a new wellness model that helps people optimize their health and wellbeing, even during a time when close contact unfortunately poses a risk to public health. Massage and facials will be at the heart of our offerings once it is safe to do so, until then we’re delivering a full-range of unique therapies and services designed to maximize relaxation, recovery, mobility, mental clarity, and personal joy.

We ask that you review these guidelines as we’ve had to change how we operate to meet state guidelines during COVID-19.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and support as we get used to this new way of doing things. Kind, constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sloco already practiced high standards when it came to cleanliness, however we have adjusted some of our practice to help keep everyone safe. We want our guests and employees to feel safe, so there are two things that we want to share to help you feel comfortable in our space.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Sloco, we promise to make every effort to make decisions with the personal and planetary wellness in mind. Experts estimate that over 189 million disposable masks will be used in the spa industry alone in just one year. Switching to reusable will bring that number down to less than 4 million! Sloco will only use fabric face coverings that can be laundered and reused. We proudly wear (and sell) Halo Masks which have a high quality filter and it fit well to the face, so our team isn’t adjusting their mask and potentially causing spread unintentionally. Sloco has committed to the Hospitality Lifecycle textile recycling initiative, which is where the masks will go once they are worn out. We also are dedicated to using safe products within the our doors to keep indoor air pollution to a minimum.

Air Purification

Sloco uses the Reme Halo Air Purification system which uses Reflective Electro Magnetic Energy technology, producing hydroperoxides which occur naturally in the earth’s atmosphere and are part of nature’s process of cleaning the air. This gives faster kill rates for microbial contaminants in the air as well as on surfaces. It even kills 99% of germs before they reach 3′! Unlike passive air technologies, which need pollutants to pass through the unit for purification or filtration, the REME HALO® in-duct air purifier sweeps through the building actively purifying pollutants at the source. In addition, the charged plasma induces particles to coagulate or stick together making them bigger and easier for your filter to catch.

Non-Toxic Disinfectants

We read every ingredient of each product before bringing it into the building. MANY products have ingredients that are considered toxic and can build up in your body over time. We’ll get into cleaning and retail products later.

We use a botanical disinfectant which needs to sit on surfaces for at least 30 seconds and doesn’t need to be wiped down. It is made from thymol, derived from real thyme (more disinfectants just manufacture thymol in a lab). On high touch surfaces such as doors and in the bathroom, we will use another non-toxic disinfectant that will protect the surface from germs for 24 hours through a physical method using silver ions! Both disinfectants that we use are EPA Registered for being effective against the coronavirus.

Laundry Sanitization

Our process for laundry includes the use of ozonated water, which sanitizes laundry without the use of harsh chemicals.

Adjustments to booking times will be made to limit the number of guests checking in at once. Instead of booking all services in 15 minute intervals, appointment times will be booked in 5 minute intervals to minimize time in between sessions. This will limit the number of guests checking in and checking out at once.

Change in Services Offered

Sloco is choosing to hold off on offering services that require close contact (meaning within 6’ for 15 minutes or longer).

Additional Adjustments

As part of our assessment, we have evaluated areas that could contribute to any potential spread of illness. While our air purification system will inactivate 99% of bacteria and viruses in the air and on surfaces, we wanted to take it a step further to minimize risk of transmission with enhanced cleaning protocols and changes in protocol.

Before your appointment…

Even if you’ve been to Sloco before January 1st, 2021, you will need to fill out a digital intake form which will be sent to you via text and email. We ask that you review and complete this before your appointment.

Within this form, it states that you agree to self-check for illness before coming in for your appointment. We are of course concerned with any sort of contagious illness, but we ask that you pay close attention to symptoms of COVID-19 such as:

Fever or chills
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Muscle or body aches
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting

If you or anyone in your household have these symptoms, we ask that you cancel your appointment at the earliest signs of symptoms.

Due to industry guidelines, we have suspended water service, and ask that you bring your own water bottle, filled, with you to your appointment.

Face Coverings

While the state is mandating masks to be worn at all times, we also understand that not everyone can safely wear a mask. We’re grateful that we have an air purification system for our building that reduces sneeze germs by 99% before 3’ and it even kills 99% of what might land on a surface. This will allow us to care for those guests who are in pain or need self-care. We don’t want anyone to feel bad for having asthma or COPD, for example, and seeking care…. We feel confident that we’ll be able to keep our guests and our team safe by physical distancing in those situations where exemptions apply.

Mask exemptions apply to anyone with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering, as well as those who are hearing impaired. Whether you’re wearing a mask or not, we ask that you keep your volume down and use proper etiquette if you need to cough or sneeze. If you are unable to wear a mask, we ask that you wait outside so that we can assist you in open air until your service is ready.

We appreciate your honesty and ask that our guests remember to be kind to one another during this time.

Checking In

You may notice that our booking times have changed. Normally, we love to chat with our guests and encourage early arrival, however state guidelines no longer allow for that. Our chairs have been removed from reception, so we ask that you arrive just a couple minutes before the start of your appointment, as long as you’ve completed your digital intake ahead of time. Our goal is to get you into your service shortly after your arrival.

We will still have a strict policy when it comes to late arrivals, so we encourage you to continue to plan on parking 5 minutes early to make sure you don’t feel rushed.

Home Care Products

We encourage you to shop! Don’t worry, you don’t have to buy everything that you touch. We made sure to leave out only retail that can be sanitized, and ask that you put any handled products in the designated bamboo bins or hand it to a team member. Our team will disinfect those products before putting them back on the shelves. Don’t hesitate to browse around before or after your appointment. Your support means a lot to us!

A mask is required in the cryotherapy chamber, no exceptions. There is a 100% air exchange each time the door is opened between sessions, and at extreme temperatures, we believe that any potential virus would be inactive.

Salt Therapy

Salt therapy is one service that you will need to remove your mask for in order to receive the benefits. We have a designated tray for you to place your face covering. Always practice proper etiquette by using coughing and sneezing into a tissue during your session.

Infrared Sauna

Our infrared sauna is in a private setting, meaning only one or two people within the same household can use the sauna at the same time. Between each guest, we disinfect high touch surfaces within the sauna (handles, tablets, etc.) and run a HEPA-13 filter in the sauna itself to clear the air.

The seat of the Somadome is made up of an anti-microbial fabric. All surfaces will be disinfected between each guest. We ask that face coverings remain on throughout the entire session.

Checking Out

Pay from your cell phone with our fully contactless payment option!

Setting Up Future Visits

Normally, we encourage guests to set up their next appointment before leaving. However, since we have to limit the amount of people up front, we encourage you to utilize a few different options:

1) Email us before your visit with some days and times that work well for you, so we can confirm your appointment at check out.
2) Consider setting up your next appointment while you’re waiting in your car via online booking.
